Brigitte
Bardot, Ernest Hemingway and Marlene Dietrich
had the right idea when they made no secret of
their love for the Mojito.
Made from simple ingredients like mint and limes,
with a healthy dash of Angostura
and a double measure of the finest white rum it
is infinitely refreshing and outrageously sexy.
The Mojito
still remains a classic and is one of the most
requested drinks in London’s style bars.
Don’t be scared
about making Mojitos
– half of the fun comes from bashing and
smashing the mint, sugar and limes together at
the bottom of the glass, releasing the pungent
oils and juices. And there’s no need to
rush out and pick up a professional muddler
– the end of a rolling pin, a pestle or
a small wooden spoon will do just fine. The idea
is to crush all of the ingredients together, then
add the crushed ice, drizzle over the rum and
splash with Angostura.
Follow the recipe below and you can’t go
wrong. If you’re feeling extra specially
daring, try replacing the mint and the lime for
a handful of basil and 5 fresh strawberries. |
