Fed up with the weather and stuck for a good cocktail recipe idea? Here at in-the-spirit we have some fabulous cocktail recommendations for you inspired by the very changeable weather we always seem to have here in the UK! Hopefully there is a recipe suggestion to suit all tastes and occasions – come rain or shine!

Cool Breeze

Cool Breeze Cool Breeze – this deep red cocktail is a rich combination of berry and fruit flavours. A mix of white rum, De Kuyper Crème de Cassis with pink grapefruit juice and cranberry juice – this is an easy cocktail to make. Simply shake all the ingredients together and serve in a highball glass filled with ice for a fruity and refreshing long cocktail.

Purple Mist

Purple Mist Purple Mist – another easy to make cocktail recipe with a weather theme! Just shake together the De Kuyper Sour Apple liqueur and the De Kuyper Cherry Brandy in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Top up with a small amount of lemonade and finish with a slice of apple fixed to the rim of the glass for an elegant finish. Rich cherry flavours blend well with sour apple and lemonade for an effortless cocktail.

Snowball

Snowball Snowball – a cocktail recipe often overlooked as "something that Granny or Auntie Mabel" might drink but have you had tried one lately? Made using 2 shots of Warninks Advocaat shaken together with a good dash of lime juice poured into an ice filled highball glass – just add the lemonade to top up and you’re ready for the Snowball experience. A classic cocktail recipe which has had a recent revival thanks to Nigella Lawson – enjoy the rich custardy and vanilla flavours for yourself.

Summer Rain

Summer Rain Summer Rain – a delicious cocktail recipe which couldn’t be more straight forward to make. The rich fruity flavours of De Kuyper Cranberry mix perfectly with apple juice (use clear apple juice for best results). For a little extra "zing" add a splash of freshly squeezed lime juice. Serve in a highball glass half filled with cubed ice and garnish with a slice of lime.

Sunny Day

Sunny Day Sunny Day – now this cocktail is an unexpected delight. Again using a traditional liqueur often overlooked in cocktail making. The Sunny Day cocktail recipe uses Bénédictine DOM mixed with grapefruit juice. The rich and complex flavours of Bénédictine DOM - due to the 27 herbs and spices that are used to produce this world famous liqueur - are perfectly complemented by the bitter flavours of the grapefruit juice for an easy drinking cocktail. Mix 2 shots Bénédictine DOM with 3 shots grapefruit juice and stir gently to release the flavours. If you prefer, make it in a highball glass with plenty of ice as a long drink.

Whatever the weather we hope that some of the above cocktail ideas will inspire you to experiment and have fun trying out new recipes.

As always, please enjoy responsibly all cocktails recommended by in-the-spirit.
